Online Safety in There.com

There.com has always been a place where adults can socialize, create, explore, and build lasting friendships. While the vast majority of our community members are respectful and genuine, it is important to remember that not everyone you meet online has good intentions. Just as you would use caution in the real world, you should also exercise caution in virtual worlds and on social media platforms.

Protect Your Personal Information

Never share your real-life personal information with other members. This includes:

  • Your real name
  • Home address
  • Phone number
  • Workplace information
  • Financial information
  • Passwords
  • Email account passwords
  • Other sensitive personal details

There Staff will never ask for your password. If anyone requests your password or attempts to gain access to your account information, do not provide it under any circumstances.

Be Careful Who You Trust

Online friendships can be meaningful, but it is important to remember that people are not always who they claim to be. Take your time getting to know others and be cautious of individuals who attempt to quickly gain your trust, pressure you into private conversations, or encourage you to engage in activities that make you uncomfortable.

Be especially cautious if someone you do not know well suddenly offers you large amounts of Therebucks, gifts, inventory items, real estate, or other valuables. Generous offers from strangers can sometimes be used to create obligations, establish influence, or involve members in activities they may later regret.

If something feels suspicious, trust your instincts and remove yourself from the situation.

Do Not Assist Banned Members

From time to time, individuals who have been permanently removed from There.com may attempt to regain access to the community through alternate accounts or by using other members to conduct activities on their behalf.

Members should not communicate with, transfer inventory to receive inventory from, or otherwise assist individuals who are no longer permitted to participate in the community. This includes accepting or providing Therebucks, inventory, real estate, gifts, or acting as an intermediary for a banned member.

There Staff maintains records of account activity, Therebucks transfers, inventory transactions, gifting activity, real estate purchases, and other account interactions to help protect the integrity of the platform. Members who knowingly assist, facilitate, or conduct transactions on behalf of a permanently banned individual will be subject to moderation and permanent removal from There.com. The Terms of Service outlines that There.com can ban any member at any time for any reason with or without notice.

If you have recently accepted gifts, Therebucks, inventory, real estate, or other assets from an individual you know or suspect to be a permanently banned member, we strongly encourage you to contact There Staff immediately at feedback@thereinc.com. Voluntarily coming forward and providing information about the circumstances now will be taken into consideration during any review of your account activity. If you have not been involved with the individual, but you have additional information or reports to share please contact our team.

Simply put, don’t let someone else’s poor decisions jeopardize your own account. It is not worth risking permanent removal from a community you love and enjoy in order to assist someone who is no longer permitted to participate.

If you have been stalked, harassed, threatened, or bullied by an individual on another platform, we encourage you to contact that platform’s customer support team and utilize any available blocking, reporting, and safety tools. If you believe you have been the victim of a crime or are concerned for your personal safety, please contact your local law enforcement agency or appropriate authorities for assistance.

Use the Ignore Tool

You have complete control over who you interact with in There.com.

If another member is bothering you, making you uncomfortable, or attempting to engage you in unwanted conversations, use the Ignore feature:

Profile > People > Ignore > Ignore Someone > Enter Username

Ignoring a member prevents further communication and is one of the most effective tools available to protect your experience.

Remember that you can also:

  • Teleport away from any situation
  • Leave an event
  • Log out at any time
  • Block or ignore users on other platforms and social media services

You are never required to remain in a conversation or situation that makes you uncomfortable.

Report Suspicious Activity

If you experience harassment, receive inappropriate messages, encounter suspicious behavior, or believe another member may be violating the Terms of Service, please contact There Staff.

Email: feedback@thereinc.com

When submitting a report, please include any available evidence such as:

  • Your username
  • Screenshots
  • Video recordings
  • Chat logs
  • Usernames involved
  • Dates and times of incidents

Even if you do not have evidence, we still encourage you to contact our team if you observe suspicious behavior or have concerns about an account.

Contact Local Authorities When Appropriate

While There.com takes reports seriously and investigates violations of our policies, there may be situations that extend beyond the scope of our virtual world.

If you believe you have been the victim of predatory behavior, threats, stalking, fraud, exploitation, or any criminal activity, we strongly encourage you to contact your local law enforcement agency or appropriate authorities in addition to reporting the matter to There Staff.

Make Good Choices

There.com is an adults-only virtual world, but being an adult does not make someone immune to manipulation, scams, harassment, or predatory behavior. The best protection is awareness, good judgment, and a willingness to walk away from situations that do not feel right.

Protect your personal information. Use the tools available to you. Report suspicious activity. Be cautious when accepting gifts or large transfers from people you do not know well. Most importantly, remember that your safety and well-being are more important than any friendship, item, or amount of Therebucks.

Stay safe, stay observant, and help us keep There.com a welcoming community for everyone.
