Using Third-Party Applications with There.com

The There.com community has always been creative and innovative. Over the years, members have developed a variety of third-party applications, tools, websites, and services designed to interact with or complement their experience in There.com.

While we appreciate the passion and enthusiasm that inspires these projects, it is important for members to understand that There.com does not create, support, endorse, certify, or recommend the use of any third-party application, website, service, or software.

Any third-party application is used entirely at your own risk.

What Is a Third-Party Application?

A third-party application is any software, website, browser extension, utility, service, or tool that is not created, operated, or maintained by There.com or Makena Technologies, Inc.

These tools may offer additional features, collect information, interact with game data, or alter aspects of your experience. Because these applications are developed and managed by independent individuals or organizations, There.com has no control over how they operate, what information they collect, or how that information is stored and used.

Understanding the Risks

Before using any third-party application, members should carefully consider the potential privacy and security implications.

Depending on how a third-party service operates, its creator may have access to information such as:

  • Your There.com username
  • Your IP address
  • Connection and usage information
  • Information voluntarily submitted by you through the service

Many people are unaware that an IP address can reveal general geographic information, including the city, state, region, or country from which a connection originates. While an IP address does not typically reveal a precise street address, it can still provide information about a person’s approximate location.

Once information is shared with a third-party service, There.com cannot control how that information is stored, used, shared, or protected.

Technical Support Limitations

If you experience technical issues while using There.com and have third-party applications installed or running, our Engineers may ask you to disable or uninstall those applications before troubleshooting can begin.

This is a standard practice that helps ensure the issue is not being caused by software that exists outside of the There.com platform.

Because third-party applications can modify, intercept, or interact with data in unexpected ways, they can complicate the diagnostic process and make it difficult to determine the true source of a problem.

Make Informed Decisions

We recognize that members are free to create and use third-party applications if they choose. However, we encourage everyone to carefully evaluate the potential risks before installing or using software that is not provided directly by There.com.

Before using any third-party service, ask yourself:

  • What information is this application collecting?
  • Who operates and maintains it?
  • How is my information being stored?
  • What happens if that information is shared with others?
  • Do I trust the individual or organization operating the service?

Taking a few moments to research a tool before using it can help protect both your privacy and your account security.

Our Position

There.com does not endorse, recommend, certify, or guarantee the safety, reliability, or security of any third-party application.

Members who choose to use third-party software do so voluntarily and assume all associated risks. We encourage everyone to prioritize their privacy, protect their personal information, and make informed decisions when interacting with services that operate outside of the There.com platform.

As always, if you have questions or concerns regarding account safety, please contact There Staff for assistance.
