Help Us Squash Any Bugs!
Our team has been testing this release with the help of members using a special QA client, but testing can never recreate every situation that might happen once a new release reaches the entire Thereian community.
That means there may still be a few bugs or unexpected technical issues hiding out there.
If you encounter something that doesn’t seem right after the release, please be patient with us and report it to Staff as soon as possible at Feedback@thereinc.com. The sooner we receive detailed information about an issue, the sooner our team can investigate it.
When submitting a bug report, please include:
- Your There username.
- A detailed explanation of what happened.
- The exact steps you took before the problem occurred so Staff can try to recreate the same scenario.
- Screenshots of the issue whenever possible.
- Your There.log file, if applicable.
How to Find Your There.log File
Your There.log can contain valuable technical information that helps our team determine what happened when you experienced a problem.
To attach your There.log to your email:
- Click the attachment button in your email.
- Click the folder icon on your taskbar to open File Explorer.
- In the left sidebar, click This PC.
- Find and open Windows-SSD (C:) to access your C: Drive.
- Open the Makena folder.
- Open the There folder.
- Open the ThereClient folder.
- You’ll see quite a few files in this folder. Scroll down until you find There.log. The files should be listed alphabetically.
- Select or double-click There.log to attach the text file to your email.
You can also navigate directly to:
C:\Makena\There\ThereClient\There.log
Providing your There.log along with detailed steps and screenshots can make a big difference in helping our team recreate an issue and track down a fix.
Thank you to everyone who helped test this release and thank you to the entire Thereian community for your patience while the Virtual World is temporarily offline.
We’ll see you back in There after maintenance!
Peace, Love & 20 Years of OurStock!
Break out your bell-bottoms, dust off your tie-dye, and get ready to spread some peace, love, and good vibes! OurStock is celebrating its 20th anniversary in the Virtual World There.com, and the Hippie Islands community is inviting everyone to join the weeklong celebration from November 1–7, 2026!
Find yourself surrounded by far-out friends, and the sounds of groovy tunes. Hop in your buggy, let your hair down, and cruise into a week filled with music, trivia, buggy bashes, bingo, cards, races, social gatherings, and plenty of psychedelic fun.
Whether you’re an original flower child or a newcomer looking to experience the magic, OurStock is all about bringing the community together, celebrating friendships, and keeping the spirit of peace and love alive.
20 Years of Peace, Love & OurStock
OurStock has a colorful history that stretches all the way back to 2006, during the early days of There.
Longtime members may remember ThereStock, a company-sponsored hippie-themed celebration that inspired the creation of a community-run tradition. Back then, a spirited debate arose over altering the official There.com logo during the event. The company maintained that its logo could not be altered in this way, leading to some lively discussions in the old community Forums.
Rather than let the disagreement dampen their enthusiasm, a group of determined Thereians decided to do their own thing. And just like that, OurStock was born!
What began as a community-driven alternative grew into a beloved annual tradition. Twenty years later, OurStock continues to bring Thereians together through music, creativity, friendship, and a shared appreciation for the free-spirited hippie lifestyle.
Through it all, the heart of OurStock has remained the same: a celebration created by the community, for the community.
Hippie Islands: A Groovy Place to Call Home
Every great gathering needs a place to call home, and there’s no better setting for OurStock than the legendary Hippie Islands Neighborhood.
Founded by Zip in December 2005, Hippie Islands is one of There’s oldest and most enduring Neighborhood communities. Its journey began on Comet Island, where a small group of like-minded Thereians created a colorful little haven of their own.
On December 31, 2005, the community packed up its virtual belongings and relocated to an island northeast of Kansas Island. There, Hippie Islands continued to grow and flourish until March 2009, when the community purchased a private island off the coast of Aurora.
The island remained their home until the closure of There.com in March 2010. But you can’t keep a good hippie down!
When the Virtual World reopened in 2012, the Hippie Islands community returned, reclaimed its beloved island, and brought its groovy gathering place back to life.
Created by hippies, for hippies, Hippie Islands has always been more than just a Neighborhood. It’s a place where friendships have lasted decades, creativity runs wild, and the spirit of community continues to thrive.
Now, more than two decades after its founding, Hippie Islands is rolling out the welcome mat once again as headquarters for the 20th anniversary of OurStock!

Scheduled Maintenance: Monday, October 12th – Client & Server Updates
The Virtual World There.com will be temporarily closed for scheduled maintenance on Monday, October 12, 2026, while our team rolls out a new client and server release. This update includes improvements to the Quest system, a fix for certain types of ThereQuakes, and an important Paintball bug fix.
Scheduled Maintenance Window:
- Date: Monday, October 12, 2026
- Pacific Time: 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM (PDT)
- Eastern Time: 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM (EDT)
During this maintenance window, members will be unable to access the Virtual World.
What’s Included in This Update?
Quest Improvements – New Test Mode
We’re introducing a new Test Mode for Quest authors! This feature allows creators to run through and test their Quests without being interrupted by an endless stream of pop-up messages. This improvement will make testing Quests a smoother and more enjoyable experience for our creative community.
Server Improvements – Reducing ThereQuake Disruptions
Our team is implementing a server-side fix designed to lessen the impact of certain types of ThereQuakes. While this update won’t eliminate every ThereQuake, it should help reduce disruptions caused by a particular type of server issue and improve the overall experience for members.
Paintball Fix – Protecting Infinite-Capacity Paintguns
We’ve addressed a bug affecting certain rare infinite-capacity paintguns during Free Paintball Thursday sessions. Previously, crossing a sector boundary while using one of these paintguns could occasionally cause the gun to become “damaged.”
This release includes improvements to the Free Paintball system to prevent this issue from occurring, allowing members to enjoy their paintball adventures without worrying about this particular bug.
Important Reminders After Maintenance
Following a client and server release, it can take up to 12 hours for all decorations and other in-world items to fully reload. If you log in after maintenance and notice that decorations in your Neighborhood, PAZ, ThereHouse, or favorite hangout appear to be missing, please don’t panic! Your items may simply need more time to reappear as the world finishes loading.
Occasionally, a ThereQuake following a server or client release may also cause decorations or other items to shift out of position in your saved layout. If you notice that items are no longer where you originally placed them, you can try clearing your current layout and redeploying your saved layout. This should restore your items to their previously saved positions.
We encourage members to allow sufficient time for the world to finish reloading before reporting missing decorations. Thank you for your patience as everything settles back into place!
Reporting Issues After Maintenance
Our team continues to work on improving the There experience, and we appreciate the community’s patience and feedback as we roll out new features and fixes.
As with any client or server update, unexpected bugs or technical issues may occur. If you encounter a problem after maintenance, please report it to feedback@thereinc.com.
When submitting a report, please include:
- Your There username.
- A detailed description of the issue.
- The exact steps you took leading up to the problem so we can attempt to reproduce it.
- Screenshots of the issue, if possible.
- Your There.log file, when applicable.
If you experience missing decorations immediately after maintenance, please allow up to 12 hours for items to reload before submitting a report.
Thank you for your patience and understanding while we work behind the scenes to keep There running smoothly. We look forward to welcoming everyone back into the Virtual World once maintenance is complete!
Get Your There Home Ready for Halloween!
October has arrived, and spooky season is officially underway in the Virtual World There! It’s time to dust off the cobwebs, summon your spooky side and give your virtual home a Halloween makeover.
Whether you’re decorating your Neighborhood, PAZ, ThereHouse or favorite hangout, Halloween is the perfect excuse to get creative. Go creepy, cute, mysterious or completely over the top. There’s no wrong way to bring a little Halloween spirit to your corner of There.
Our talented designers have been busy creating all sorts of seasonal goodies to help you bring your ideas to life. Head over to Auctions and search Halloween to browse the selection, support your favorite designers and maybe discover something unexpected for your Halloween display.
Need a little inspiration? Here are a few ideas to get you started!
🎃 Build Your Own Pumpkin Patch
Nothing says October quite like pumpkins! Create your own pumpkin patch by mixing pumpkins of different shapes, sizes and styles. Scatter them across the ground, line a pathway with them or arrange a few together to create the perfect fall photo spot.
Want to make your pumpkin patch a little spookier? Add jack-o’-lanterns, creepy lighting or Halloween props among the pumpkins. You can even turn your patch into a gathering place for friends by adding seating and making it part of your Halloween hangout.
Whether you want something cute and cozy or creepy and haunted, our designers have created plenty of pumpkins to help you grow the perfect patch.
💀 Raise a Graveyard
Every haunted property needs a graveyard!
There are all sorts of gravestones and cemetery decorations available in Auctions that can be mixed and matched to create your own spooky resting place. Arrange your headstones in neat rows for an old cemetery or scatter them around at different angles for something that looks long forgotten and abandoned.
Add skeletons, dead trees, cobwebs, fog, fencing and eerie lighting to make your graveyard even creepier. You could build a tiny cemetery beside your house or go all out and dedicate an entire property to the dearly departed.
🏚️ Create a Haunted House
If pumpkins and gravestones aren’t scary enough, it might be time to build a haunted house.
There are several spooky houses, shacks and abandoned-looking structures available from There designers, giving you a great starting point for your own haunted attraction. Search the Auctions and you’ll find haunted houses, old furniture, vortex tunnels, abandoned buildings, and fog.
Once you’ve picked your haunted home, the fun really begins. Fill it with cobwebs, creepy fireplaces, witches, monsters, strange lighting and whatever else you can dream up. Create dark hallways, hidden rooms or a path that leads visitors from one frightening surprise to the next.
Better yet, invite your friends over and see who is brave enough to explore it!
🍬 Get the Front Porch Ready for Trick-or-Treaters
Don’t forget the front porch! Halloween is coming, and your There home needs to be ready for trick-or-treaters.
Put out the pumpkins, hang your Halloween decorations, add a spooky doormat and leave a candy bowl by the door. The current Auctions even include Halloween banners, a Disturbed Door Mat and a Halloween Candy Bowl Prop, so you can dress up your entryway from the walkway all the way to the front door.
Your porch can be cute, creepy, funny or downright terrifying. The important thing is to have some fun and let your personality show.
👻 Start Decorating!
Halloween is one of the best times of year to get creative in There. Whether you’re building an elaborate haunted attraction or simply putting a few pumpkins outside your ThereHouse, we’d love to see the world filling up with Halloween spirit.
Our designers have been busy creating decorations for the season, so be sure to browse through Auctions and support their creativity while you’re building your spooky masterpiece.
Now get those pumpkins dropped, raise a few gravestones and get that front porch ready.
Trick-or-treaters will be arriving before you know it! 🎃👻🍬
