2023 Pupcation Photo Challenge
Take your virtual dog on a fun adventure vacation to different island locations in There.com. After months of being cooped up at home, your puppy deserves to be able to sniff and explore new places. Celebrate the Dog Days of Summer in the Virtual World There and take your fur baby on a well-deserved pupcation!
Enter the Pupcation Photo Contest with your puppy during the Dog Days of Summer event August 19th through the 26th. Make sure to take lots of photos of your travels with your canine companion. Submit pics of your pup’s adventures in There for a chance to win a rare breed of dog not currently available in the There Pet Store.
Submit your pupcation photo(s) in There from Saturday, August 19th – Saturday, August 26th. Pawticipants have until 8:30 pm Pacific/11:30 pm Eastern on August 26th to submit photos. To enter the photo contest, email the following information to Feedback@thereinc.com.
- Subject Line: Pupcation Photos
- Enter your Avatar’s name in the body of the email.
- You can attach up to 5 pupcation photos to your entry.
- It’s helpful if you can name your photo file names with your Avatar name and the # of your entry. Example: username_1, username_2, username_3 and so on…
You can submit up to five entries for the Pupcation Photo Contest. Each photo you turn in earns you an entry number. At the end of the submission period a winning number will be pulled from a random number generator. The grand prize winner will be announced at the Top Dog Awards on Sunday, August 27th at 12:00 pm Pacific/3:00 pm Eastern at the Tiki Dog Stage. There will also be a special surprise gift for There staff’s favorite pupcation pic. Every dog owner that submits a pupcation photo will receive a free dog treat to give to their trusty canine companion.
The grand prize winner, staff pic winner and contest participants do not need to be present at the Top Dog Awards to collect prizes. Dog treats, the grand prize and staff pick prize will be awarded within 72 hours after the end of the Top Dog Awards ceremony. Prizes will automatically be added to participants inventories.
All photo entries submitted will be turned into There postcards and posted to the There Blog and official There Facebook page over the course of the next several weeks. You do not need to transform your photo into a postcard, we will do it for you. If your doggy refuses to sit still for photos, you can use any photo editing program to create your ideal memory book of your pupcation travels.
Pupcation Photo Examples
You do not need to know how to use photo capturing software to take good photos of your dog. You can easily use the built in There Camera to capture the magic. On your toolbar go to There>ThereCam>Take Photo Now to snap a pic of your pup.
It’s also okay if you do not know how to use a photo editing program to help you get the perfect shot. All pupcation photo entries will be assigned numbers to be picked at random, so your chances of winning the photo challenge are based on luck and not your photography skills. The point is to get out of the house with your precious pup and have fun travelling the many island locations in the Virtual World There.

Camp-A-Palooza 2023
Kick off the summer season in There with Camp-A-Palooza! Join new and old friends for ghost stories, sing-a-longs around the campfire and leisurely hikes through the woods. The event runs July 2nd – 22nd.
Camp-A-Palooza is three weeklong adventure in the virtual world There.com. Campers hike to new campsites each week and build their own campground with neighbors. The adventure features many activities and events with a special quest to find the elusive Bigfoot. Get all of the details of Camp-A-Palooza at the official 2023 camping website.

Campers have the opportunity to earn badges during Camp-A-Palooza by actively engaging in various aspects of the event. By setting up creative and inviting campsites, campers can earn badges that recognize their flair for design. Hosting camp activities such as games, workshops or storytelling around the campfire can earn a camper their leadership badge. If a camper proves photographic evidence of Bigfoot they can earn their quest badge. The badges serve as tokens of celebration for campers throughout the Camp-A-Palooza event. Make sure to earn your badges!
The annual camping trip in There starts July 2nd! Do you have your gear packed and ready to go? Make sure you are properly prepared to survive the great outdoors in There. You can purchase camping supplies in the Auctions if you need a tent, sleeping bag, stove or cooler to take with you.
There’s No Place Like Home
Are you looking for your own place to kick back and relax with your friends in the virtual world There? Need a home away from home where distant friends and relatives can come over to visit and catch up? Set up your own virtual pad in There with one of the many different styles of ThereHouses to choose from.
ThereHouses are pre-fabricated homes created by There with a variety of styles to choose from. They are pre-placed stationary homes that cannot be moved to other locations in-world. Rent is taken from the holder of the deed automatically every thirty days. There Rental Homes are available on the following islands; Caldera, Motu Motu, Ootay and Tyr.
There Rental Homes allow interior decorating only, which means there is not outside yard available for decorating. If you would like to decorate the outside of your home you can purchase a PAZ and drop it outside of your home in order to add some patio pieces and flora and fauna. You may change the interior walls, floor, door, ceiling, windows and hearth decorations in addition to the 40 drops (Small ThereHouse) or 50 drops (Large ThereHouse) you can use for placing furniture and other items within the home.
Let your personality shine through your interior design! Shop for furniture, indoor plants and knick-knacks for your new home. Add your personal touch with items from Shop Central and the Auctions.
Transform the interior of your home by changing the walls, ceiling, floor, panels, hearth and windows. You can purchase these items in the Home Improvement category in Shop Central or in Auctions. Home Improvement items are custom made just for ThereHouses.
You can find an available ThereHouse to rent on the Places Search Page. The Places Search page provides a list of houses that are not currently rented. If you purchase a deed directly from There via the housing listings on the Places Search page the thirty day rental cycle starts the day you purchase the deed.
On your toolbar go to Places>Find a Place>Search Listings. Check the box “Include only places you can rent”. Click on the House tab to find available houses. You can narrow your search by region, location, description or cost of rent. If you see a ThereHouse listed that you are interested in, click Visit to teleport to its location in-world. It is a good idea to check out The house and its location before you rent it.
When you visit a ThereHouse location you will teleport to the outside of the front door. You will need to click on the action tag on the door to enter the ThereHouse. Once inside, if it feels like home, on your toolbar click This Place>Info about “For Rent”. The House Detail Page will appear. Click Rent It to begin the rental process.
After you have gone through the rental process you can change the details and permissions and begin decorating. When you are done decorating create an event and invite your friends over for a house warming party!
Annual Club Fair in There
Join a club online and make new friends in the virtual world There.com. Visit the annual Club Fair from Sunday, January 8th to Saturday, January 14th to browse teams, leagues, Neighborhood groups and social clubs looking for new recruits. Check out the different clubs on display at the annual community-wide event and sign up for club events.
To join a club in the virtual world There, first create your very own avatar here. Once you’re logged onto There, teleport over to the Club Fair at the There Fairgrounds. Travel the walkways around the Fairgrounds and visit the different types of clubs There has to offer. You’ll find signs, brochures and information on each club. Check the individual booths for upcoming Club Fair events where you can meet and interact with other club members.
If you are the leader of a club in There and would like to participate in the Club Fair, join the There Fairgrounds Development Group. Once you are part of the club, find an open Lot at the Fairgrounds to rent out. Here’s a list of the remaining available Lots. Make sure to name your Lot after your Club and schedule events for your Club inside of the Lot during the week of the fair. Use the keyword Club Fair in your event description to have your event featured on the home page.
At the end of the Club Fair, you can send an email request to There Staff to have your Lot evicted from the Fairgrounds. An Eviction will result in a pro-rated rental refund going back to your account. Please be aware if you Relinquish your own Lot, you will not receive a partial refund and the full month of rent will be taken from your account. Make sure to include your Avatar name and the doid to your Lot in your email to Staff if you’d like to be Evicted for a partial pro-rated refund.

Pirates Ahoy Designer Showcase
This week’s There.com Designer Showcase highlights ships, barrels, cannons and taverns listed in the Auctions for the upcoming Pirates Ahoy theme.
Join the Virtual World of There September 18th – 24th for a swashbuckling good time. Teleport to Pirate Island for the week and build a ship in the harbor or set up a tavern or shop. Thereian Designers have relisted a ton of pirate items in the Auctions.

Farewell Botanical Gardens
The Botanical Society of There established a one-of-a-kind Botanical Garden Neighborhood in the Virtual World There.com representing the majority of flora and fauna created by Designers. Charlie__BST and Susanszy restored and maintained the lush and beautiful Botanical Gardens Neighborhood for many years for all Thereians to enjoy. The master gardeners have been able to extend the life of the garden over the years through generous donations. The unique Botanical Gardens have reached the end of life.
Many of the individual types of flora and fauna in the Botanical Gardens were created by Designers who no longer participate in the Developer Program and have not recently relisted their items in Auctions. As a tribute to the Botanical Society of There, you’ll find the View Decor link for each garden type planted in the Botanical Gardens listed below. View Decor shows a catalog of each type of flora and fauna used in each individual garden.

Flash Fix For Virtual World There
ANNOUNCEMENT: On December 31, 2020 Microsoft will remove the ability to run Adobe Flash in Edge and Internet Explorer. The Virtual World platform There.com will be affected by the removal of Flash.
Flash currently runs several key controls in There like the MessageBar, ChangeMe, the Compass and all of the card games. With the removal of Flash, an Avatar may not be able to use the features mentioned or be able to answer Instant Messages or accept a teleport summons.
The Engineering Staff at There is currently working on an alternative that will allow users to continue playing one of the oldest virtual world platforms despite Microsoft discontinuing Flash. In the new year, Flash will stop working in browsers, but most likely will continue working in-game. The main problem will be with the 2-D web pages. Currently, our Engineers are considering this issue a bug and will most likely be able to create a fix for it.
With so much uncertainty in the real world at this point in time, the Thereian community can look forward to playing There in 2021 and beyond. Moving forward in the new year, users are encouraged to contact Customer Service via email at Feedback@thereinc.com to report any technical issues or bugs related to the removal of Flash.
PAW-Parazzi Photo Contest Awards
Thanks to all of our PAW-Parazzi Photo Contest participants who captured photos of their puppies during the Dog Days of Summer event. The PAW-Parazzi Photo Contest winners will be announced at the Puppy Photographer Party on Thursday, July 30th. The party and award ceremony will be held at the Paiz Puppy Park in the Virtual World There. Participants and winners do not need to be present at the party to collect their gifts and prizes.

The PAW-Parazzi photo contest allowed for a total of ten entries per participant. Each entry was reviewed by Staff and added to one of the ten contest categories. Staff then reviewed each category and picked the winning photographer. The winner of each category will be called up at the Puppy Photographer Party on Thursday to roll the dice for a chance at the grand prize. The photographer with the highest dice roll will win a rare dog of their choice. One of our photographers may have won more than one category and they will be given a chance to roll the dice for each category they place in.

Pupcation Postcard Awards
Thanks to all of our participants and their dogs who entered the Pupcation Postcard Photo Challenge. We received so many great photos of dogs and their owners playing and having fun throughout the different island locations in There. We are looking forward to to releasing the postcard entries a few at a time to the official There Facebook page over the next several weeks. Keep an eye out for all of the fantastic virtual vacation photos. We hope you’ll give your favorite pupcation postcards a like or a share.

Animal Style Fashion Show
Dress your Avatar up in your favorite animal costume and hop up on the runway to win Dog Days of Summer gifts. Join other fashionistas in the Virtual World There on Sunday, July 25th at the Animal Fashion Show.
The Animal Style Fashion Show will start at 4:00 PM Pacific on Sunday afternoon. Arrive at the event and read the rules. Change into your animal costume and walk the fashion runway when the Emcee calls your name. Emote, twirl or sit and look pretty as you tell the audience about your animal outfit of choice. As you exit the fashion stage roll the dice to be entered to win several fun animal prizes.
Models and spectators are welcome at the event. Models take a seat in the front row of the fashion stage. Spectators can cheer folks on from the second row.
