Holiday Highlight – Grinch Gardens

Our Holiday Highlight series is back this week featuring Grinch Gardens located on Frosty Island in the virtual world There.com. Flying high above the neighborhood on a hoverpack, one can see that the holiday homes lined up along the outskirts of the snow-covered community have bright and festive lights while the gardens in the center of the neighborhood are dark and dreary.

The townspeople have been busy spreading joy by decorating their homes and outdoor spaces for the holidays. Meanwhile, their cranky neighbor hides away from all of the Christmas cheer on top of an extremely tall tower at the center of town. Neighbors have lit up the community with decorative twinkle lights, while their most cantankerous resident prefers to live in darkness.

Every once in a while, the townsfolk can convince their grumpy neighbor to leave his cave and join them for dinner at the Reindeer Lodge or out for an evening of ice skating. He’s been known to take a dip in the hot tub at his neighbor’s house when the mood strikes. Although the Grinch pretends to be a big meanie, the townspeople know under all that green fur and tough guy talk that he’s a real softy.

One of the highlights of the neighborhood is the giant bah humbug snowman that the Grinch built in the gardens. The snowman’s top hat makes for a perfect observation deck overlooking the island of Frosty. The fire is cozy, and the views are fantastic! If you get a chance, stop by Grinch Gardens and fly up to the top of the giant snowman for the greatest view in town. Most likely you’ll run into the Grinch or one of the townspeople since the top hat is their favorite place to connect with neighbors and friends for fireside chats.

The Grinch Gardens community is working on putting together a special event called Don’t Let the Grinch Get You. It is a fun scavenger hunt where participants have to locate a tiny ornament hidden in one of the many homes in the community. Members have to teleport from house to house to search for the ornament without stepping foot in the neighborhood. At the beginning of the event the Grinch will put all of the participants on his Ignore list so if they do step inside the neighborhood they will get booted to no man’s land and have to start over. Check the Activities page for special Grinch Gardens events if you’d like to go on an exciting holiday scavenger hunt with friends.

The community will also be hosting the upcoming Scroogeland games. This fun and exciting holiday game is used with a large avatar-sized boardgame. Participants roll the dice, follow instructions and proceed to walk through the game pieces on the oversized board. The game is tons of fun to play with a big group of people. Grab your friends and sign up for Scroogeland board game events at Grinch Gardens.

Once you take a tour all of the holiday homes in Grinch Gardens, you’ll most likely want to build your own winter wonderland. Unleash your inner decorator and explore the holiday-themed auctions where members can purchase an array of festive goodies. Whether you’re into classic wreaths, elegant candles, or beautifully wrapped gifts, There.com’s Auctions have every type of holiday decoration you might fancy. Elevate your virtual living space with treasures that capture the joy of the season.

Here are a few of the Grinch’s favorite decorations in the neighborhood.

Log in now and explore the wonders of Grinch Gardens in your favorite virtual world There.com. Grab some hot cocoa and friends and take a tour of the festive community. Community Yard Sale – Buy, Sell, Trade

The community yard sale in the virtual world There.com provides members with a unique opportunity to engage in buying, selling and trading various items with friends and neighbors. There will be a diverse range of items available including vehicles, clothes, hairstyles, props, homes, household items, holiday decor and more. Shop the Auctions or visit a yard sale event scheduled for November 24th – 26th.

How do I sell or trade items in the community yard sale?

First, you’ll want to organize all of the items you want to sell. It’s helpful to create a special yard sale folder in your My Things inventory and transfer all of your treasures into one easy to find location. Next you’ll need to decide if you want to list your stuff online in the Auctions or drop your items in-world and schedule a yard sale event.

If you have a one-of-a kind, limited-edition or rare virtual good that you want to sell and you think you can get top dollar for, you might want to consider holding an Auction for your special item. You could list it for a 1-day auction or a 3-day auction to close at the end of the community yard sale. An auction allows multiple interested buyers to bid on your item. You can also set the Auction payment type to collect PayPal in addition to ThereBucks.

Take advantage of the three-day weekend and set up a yard sale with all of your items in-world for folks to walk around and browse. Schedule an event or multiple events for your yard sale. Make sure to use the keyword yard sale in your event listing and add what type of items you are selling in the description. It is important to be present at your yard sale event so that you can wheel and deal with potential buyers. The best way to set up a secure sale transaction in person is with a trade window. The trade window allows you to add multiple items in one transaction and it easily allows the buyer to add ThereBucks or other items for trade.

The community yard sale is a great place to get rid of any holiday items you don’t want anymore. Everyone is looking to buy Christmas decorations right now. Arrange your Christmas decorations in an appealing and eye-catching manner. Consider setting up a small Christmas-themed display that showcases the items together, creating a festive atmosphere.

Shop merchant supplies to help set up your in-person yard sale. You can purchase mannequins to display clothes or you can purchase an item dispenser which is a sign that will display a picture of the item along with an auction link.

How do I buy or trade items during the community yard sale?

First, you’ll need to buy ThereBucks to purchase virtual goods. You can buy ThereBucks with your PayPal account or use the Stripe virtual payment option to pay with your debit or credit card. Once you have virtual currency you can shop the online Auctions for goods or visit a yard sale event in-world.

Browse the Auctions for sweet deals and look for items that can be purchased with your PayPal account or ThereBucks. The item will either be available as a Buy Now purchase or listed for sale in a limited time Auction during the community yard sale event.

If you are a see it before you buy it type person you can visit individual yard sales scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Check the Activities page ahead of time for yard sale listings and sign up for the scheduled events. You’ll have the opportunity to browse the virtual goods in person, be able to talk to the seller and conduct sales transactions or trades. An easy way to get information about the items available in the yard sale is to go to This Place> View Decor. The best way to make a purchase is through a trade window. That way you can see everything you are getting, add your ThereBucks and easily confirm the trade.

Whether you are a buyer or a seller, don’t miss out on the world-wide community yard sale in There.com starting Friday, November 24th and running through Sunday, November 26th. Join us rain or shine for a fun extended weekend of great deals and community spirit! Don’t miss out on fantastic treasures and a chance to connect with your neighbors. See you There!
