Haunted House of Shock Tour
Creep your way through several scary and horrifying scenarios masterfully constructed by the most ambitious haunted house builder in virtual world There.com. Superdale has served up the most wicked tour of the Haunted House of Shock for those who dare to enter this Halloween season. Teleport to over to Danger Island and look for the spooky entrance to the haunted house. Make sure to take a group of friends with you for moral support. There’s safety in numbers! During the haunted tour, keep an eye out for quest clues to complete.
Avie Sacrifice
On the eve of every new client release in There.com, it is tradition for the Thereian Community to scale Wilson’s Peak, the tallest mountain in the Virtual World to offer up their Avatars to the There Gods in hopes for a smooth update. Join us tonight at 7:00 pm PDT/10:00 pm EST for Avie Sacrifice!
Gather on the deck with new and old friends starting at 7:00 PDT. The deck will be removed fifteen minutes after the start of the event and the party will free fall down the mountain together. Make sure to bookmark a spot at the top of Wilson’s Peak so that you can teleport back up after sliding down the mountain. There will be a second deck drop at 7:30 in case you missed the first one. If you are unable to join us for the event, you can still make an avie sacrifice on your own time and shoot yourself off the side of the mountain with one of the Avatar Slingers or hop a hoverboard and shoot through the Avie Slingshot.
The new client release is scheduled for Wednesday, September 28th.

New Client Release 9.28.22
A new client will be released for the Virtual World There.com on September 28th, 2022. It removes the game’s dependency on Adobe Flash and uses Microsoft Edge as its internal browser. Members will be prompted to install this version on Wednesday or the next time they log into the There.com 3D client.
Install the 3D Client Download (New version available 9.28.22)
Members can expect to download the full installer which will take up to five minutes to run due to the installation of additional dependencies. Once you’re running the new client, any future updates will be automatically patched in a smaller download.
The new client software will no longer be dependent on Adobe Flash. For security purposes, after the client upgrade, please remove Adobe Flash from your machine by using the Flash Uninstaller which you can get here.
The new client uses open-source products from a number of sources, including, but not limited to There Edge, Ruffle and jQuery. The new client software automatically includes these open-source links so the user does not need to install these packages themselves.
Known Issues
Shoutcast – Staff is aware of the current issues with Shoutcast. A Shoutcast fix is not included in the latest release.
ChangeMe Menu – The cursor does not function in the type box when naming a new outfit. To fix this, move the ChangeMe window slightly on your screen and then place the cursor in the text box to type.
Cracked? Tables – The cursor does not remain in the type box. To fix it, move the game hud slightly on your screen and then place the cursor in the text box to type.
Future fixes for the issues listed above will be pushed out in a patch.

Celebrate There Pride 2022
Celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and slay your best outfit at Pride week in the Virtual World There.com. Fly your rainbow flag high September 2nd through the 8th and sign up for fun and fabulous events.
Events will be happening around the clock, so check the PRIDE schedule for rainbow events like quests, cross country racing, spades, gin, scavenger hunts, bingo, parties and more.
The party never stops at Rococo Islands, your host for There Pride 2022. Hang out at the There Pride Lounge with friends and neighbors or play your hand at cards at the There Pride Cards Pavillion. Make sure to gather at the BABS Outpost on Monday night for a special Pride Floatilla. Dance the night away at the There Pride Closing Party scheduled for Thursday, September 8th at 5:30 pm Pacific time.
Show your PRIDE and add some colorful outfits to your wardrobe or decorate your virtual home with rainbow flags. Search the Auctions for Pride clothing and rainbow decorations created by our LGBTQ+ friendly designers.
There.com Beta Test Invite
This Beta removes the Virtual World There client dependency on Flash and supports Microsoft Edge as its internal browser. We have released a Beta test client with the new updates and would like to invite the Thereian Community to test it out.
If you’d like to participate in the Beta test, click on the Help Article to find the instructions and installer. Please report the outcome of testing to us at Feedback@thereinc.com. Title your subject line as There Edge Testing. Include the type of operating system you are using and please make sure to include your avatar name.

Is my operating system supported?
The Beta test client supports Windows 8.1, 10 and 11. We’d like to gather feedback from members using Windows 7 and 8 to find out if there are limitations.
How do I install the Beta test client update?
Read the Beta Help Article and click on the Installer. Download the Installer and open it. Click YES to allow the Beta client to make changes to your machine. Wait for the process to initialize. The destination folder will be named c:\Makena\There-Beta. Click continue. Once the install is complete click on the There Beta icon on your desktop to launch the test client.
Can I go back and forth between the current production client that uses Flash/IE and the Beta test client that uses Edge/HTML5?
Yes, as long as you saved the Beta client under a different file name such as c:\Makena\There-Beta. You’ll see the Beta client and the Production client icons on your desktop.
Can I uninstall Adobe Flash?
If you want to keep the current production client that is dependent on Flash, you will need to keep it installed on your machine. The new Beta client is not dependent on Flash and you can go ahead and uninstall it for security reasons. Adobe has provided instructions on how to uninstall Flash.
Can I uninstall Internet Explorer?
If you want to keep the current production client that uses Internet Explorer for webapps, you will need to keep it installed on your machine. The new Beta client is not dependent on IE and you can go ahead and uninstall it. Microsoft has provided instructions on how to uninstall IE.
I like my current browser. Do I have to update to Edge?
No, you can use your preferred browser outside of There. Please note, IE11 will go out of support soon so if you’d like to update your external browser you can choose Edge as an option.

KNOWN ISSUES
Shoutcast – We are aware of the issues with Shoutcast. A fix for it has not been included in the Beta.
ChangeMe – There are issues with the cursor not staying in the type box, so when you try to save a new clothing outfit your text will show up in chat bubbles. To fix this, move the Change Me window around and then place your cursor in the text box to type.
Cracked Tables- There are issues with the cursor not staying in the text box of the game hud. To fix this click on the hand icon to move the game hud window around. Once you have moved it, you should be able to put the cursor in the text box and type normally.

Issues With PayPal Auction Purchases
UPDATE 8/5/22 – PayPal Auction purchases are working again. If you run into any issues, please report technical difficulties to Feedback@thereinc.com.
ANNOUNCEMENT – There.com members are currently unable to purchase Auction items using PayPal. Our Engineers are working with PayPal to determine the solution. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope to have PayPal purchases back online soon. Thanks for your patience and understanding while we work to get it resolved.
What happens when I try to use the PayPal option to make an Auction purchase?
When a member clicks the PayPal button it takes them to the pop-up PayPal login as expected. The next pop-up window should be the item transaction page where the member agrees to the exact amount of the purchase. Currently, members are being taken directly to their dashboard page or to a PayPal error page.
Can I send There money directly from my PayPal account to buy the Auction item?
NO, please do not send money directly to our company. Our system is not currently set up to process direct payments of Auction items from members. For example, if you try to send a payment to Feedback@thereinc.com we will not receive it because we do not have a PayPal account set up with that email address.
Oops, I sent a direct payment to a There email address. How can I get my money back?
There.com is unable to refund payments sent to an email address that is not hooked up to a PayPal account. You’ll need to contact PayPal directly and have them reverse the payment. Go to your PayPal Resolution Center. Click View next to the dispute you want to escalate. Click Escalate to PayPal at the bottom of the page. Add any relevant information for escalating the dispute and click Submit.
How long will it take to get fixed?
At this point in time, we do not know how long it will take to get fixed. We are at the mercy of PayPal and they don’t make it easy for Developers to get help in these types of situations. If you want to help, contact PayPal and tell them you are unable to purchase There.com (Makena Technologies) Auction items. We are thinking the more help tickets that are opened on this issue the faster they might get to fixing it for us.
I really want to purchase this Auction item, what can I do?
Use the Therebucks option to make the purchase. If the Designer has the PayPal option only, unfortunately their items cannot be purchased at this time.
Can I still buy Therebucks with PayPal?
YES! Therebucks purchases are working correctly. You can purchase Therebucks with the alternative payment system Stripe.
Will my monthly Premium Membership payment still deduct from Paypal?
YES! Memberships processed through PayPal are still working as they should.
